Unboxing

New prints arrive

Penn Gallery is a high street shop as well as an online store. There is not a lot of wall space, so ordering prints to replace those that have sold is a regular occurrence.

Prints arrive well wrapped in bubble wrap, with corner protectors and the whole encased in a stout cardboard box. It is always nice taking anew print out of the box, whether it is a replacement fro a best seller or something entirely new. The careful packaging ensures that prints arrive safely.

Prints need stringing. For safety prints are not strung before they are sent, so I need to string all the prints that hang in Penn Gallery. This is quite simple to do.

  • measure about a third down from the top on the back of each side of the frame.

  • make a small hole, ideally with a bradawl

  • screw in a d-ring, make another hole for the other screw if you have a d-ring with two screw holes, which I prefer

  • thread picture cord through each d-ring and tie.

Here you can see the quality of the frame, and the position of the d-ring about a third down from the top of the frame. I have used double picture cord.

This shows the float frame corner from the front. You can see how nicely the canvas print fits into the float frame and that the frame is substantial, which all makes for a quality product.
