Coast as inspiration 1

This is the Record Cover Art for “Maelstrom” by singer songwriter Geoff Lawson. Geoff lives quite near me and I was pleased when he asked me to do the cover art for his upcoming CD. The actual record in this picture is from a charity shop. I think it was some obscure classical piece and obviously putting it in sand didn’t do it any good. For reasons which I didn’t fully realise at the time I wanted this photo of a black vinyl record in the sand as the start of the art work. I then edited the photo to put blue-grey shadows on the sand and make it look as if it was swirling round. The little people crawling over it, with shades of Lilliput (Guliver’s Travels) adds drama. Sweeping landscapes with tiny people was a theme in my art work at the time.
